How to choose

Match the feed to the horse's workload, age, body condition and pasture, then read the manufacturer's feeding guide on the listing: it states the daily amount by bodyweight and what the feed is designed to be fed with. Feed manufacturers recommend changing feeds gradually over one to two weeks and feeding by weight rather than by scoop. A balancer suits a horse that holds condition on pasture or chaff and needs vitamins and minerals without extra energy; a complete feed suits a horse in work or one that needs to gain condition. For a specific horse, an equine vet or nutritionist can set the ration.
