Johnson's advises introducing the feed gradually over 1 to 2 weeks, feeding it with roughage at 1.5 to 2% of bodyweight daily, and dividing the ration into smaller feeds if it exceeds 0.5kg per 100kg of bodyweight in one feed, with clean water always available. Johnson's also states the pellets can be soaked into a soft mash for horses with poor teeth.
