- One chewable at monthly intervals, on or about the same day each month
- Label: not to be used in dogs less than 8 weeks of age
3 chewables per pack. Afoxolaner is an isoxazoline, and the label notes adverse reactions are rarely seen but may include vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, itching and very rarely seizures. Wash hands after use.
Flea, tick and worming questions
What does NexGard cover? NexGard's Australian page states it rapidly kills fleas, treats and controls ticks including paralysis tick, brown dog tick and bush tick, and treats and controls mites, mange and biting lice, as a monthly chew for dogs.
Does it cover heartworm or intestinal worms? No. NexGard's page carries no heartworm or intestinal worm claim; NexGard Spectra is the version Boehringer Ingelheim lists with those added.
From what age? Boehringer Ingelheim states NexGard is for puppies from 8 weeks of age and 2 kg bodyweight. Dogs over 50 kg use a combination of chews per the maker's weight table.
