- Made from cut lucerne hay
- Provides fibre for the ration and adds bulk to slow down feeding
- Can be fed on its own, mixed with grain, or used to carry pellets and supplements
- Suits horses, ponies, cattle, sheep and goats needing extra fibre
Feeding questions
Lucerne before riding? Hygain's ulcer article recommends a small amount of lucerne chaff or hay prior to work: it acts as a physical barrier and its calcium buffers acid. Lucerne is the higher protein, higher calcium chaff compared with cereal chaffs.
