Laucke Red Hen Layer is a 20 kg premium layer and breeder food for all classes of breeding and laying poultry, manufactured as a blend of whole and rolled grains with micro pellets.

Feed ad lib from point of lay, at approximately 18 weeks of age. Ensure clean, fresh water is available at all times.

What is in it

  • Laucke's ingredient list includes wheat, triticale, barley, oats, peas, lupins, lentils, beans, corn, soyabean, canola, sunflower and grapes, plus meatmeal, blood meal, fat and molasses.
  • Also listed: limestone, di-calcium phosphate, sodium bicarbonate, potassium carbonate, salt, amino acids, an antioxidant, natural egg yolk pigments and enzymes, with a vitamin (A, D3, E, K and B complex) and mineral premix.
  • Laucke's declared analysis lists added salt at a maximum of 0.35%, on top of the protein, fat, fibre and calcium figures already noted for this product.

Good to know

  • Because this diet contains meatmeal and blood meal, Laucke's own warning applies specifically to this product and not to Laucke's meat free layer lines.

What is Red Hen Layer? Laucke's complete layer and breeder food: 15 percent protein, 5.5 percent fat, 4 percent calcium and linoleic acid at a minimum 1.3 percent for egg size, as whole and rolled grains fortified with a micro pellet, medication free. Laucke says feed ad lib from point of lay at about 18 weeks.

Can I still feed scratch and scraps? Yes, as treats: Barastoc's guide is grain treats under 10 percent of the daily diet (about 13 g for a hen eating 130 g), and Laucke says to restrict scraps and grass to prevent nutritional imbalances.

How does Red Hen Layer compare with Red Hen 17 and Free Range Layer? Laucke lists minimum protein of 15.0% for Red Hen Layer, 15.0% for Free Range Layer and 17.0% for Red Hen 17, which is made as No Grind Crumbles. Read the Red Hen feed range guide.
