Feeding questions
How is Free Range Layer different? It is Laucke's high-energy version: whole and rolled grains with a micro pellet, coated with vegetable oil and molasses, 15 percent protein, 3.8 percent calcium, meat free. Fed ad lib from point of lay with fresh water.
Can I still feed scratch and scraps? Yes, as treats: Barastoc's guide is grain treats under 10 percent of the daily diet (about 13 g for a hen eating 130 g), and Laucke says to restrict scraps and grass to prevent nutritional imbalances.
Does Red Hen Free Range Layer contain restricted animal material? Laucke states that Red Hen Free Range Layer and Red Hen Scratch do not contain restricted animal material, while most of the other feeds in the range carry that warning. Read the Red Hen feed range guide.
