Feeding guide
Barastoc states this pellet is formulated to meet the nutritional requirements of calves up to 12 weeks of age. The feeding guide says to feed to appetite to growing calves in that period. When fed before weaning, Barastoc recommends feeding it alongside whole milk or milk replacer, with fresh, clean drinking water always available. The manufacturer also advises providing straw or hay as a roughage source to help stimulate rumen development. Barastoc recommends phasing in Barastoc Heifer Developer Pellets over a 3-day period once calves reach 11 to 12 weeks of age.
What is in it
- Barastoc lists typical analysis as fed per kg of: minimum 17.8% crude protein, maximum 8.0% crude fibre, minimum 1.5% crude fat.
- The manufacturer states the pellet contains 50 mg/kg Monensin (as Rumensin) for improved feed conversion efficiency and as an aid in the prevention of coccidiosis.
- Ingredients are selected from cereal grains and their by-products, legumes and their by-products, vegetable protein meals, molasses, fats and oils, minerals, trace elements and vitamins, according to Barastoc.
Good to know
- This is a medicated animal foodstuff. Barastoc's label states it is for animal treatment only and warns that dogs, horses and other equines must not be given access to this feed, as ingestion of Rumensin can be fatal to these species.
- Barastoc's stated withholding period for meat is nil.
- The manufacturer's storage direction is to store the pellets under cover in a cool, dry place below 30 degrees Celsius, protected from direct sunlight.
- This bag is a 20 kg pack, per the Easy Pets listing.
